What We Do:
Wakarusa Electronics is a service driven company, which specializes in consumer and industrial board repair. Our company has over 25 years of experience serving the northern Indiana area. An engineering division was added in 2002 to help aid our customers in developing new directions for their products. One of these changes was the introduction of microcontrollers, to help downsize their boards and make them more efficient. The engineering department has also been researching and developing new projects for the Assistive Technology field. This includes switch devices for handicapped persons of all ages, and some toy conversions for children. Our company has developed some assistive prototype projects to help enhance a child's environment. We take much pride in our work on all levels.

Wakarusa Electronics History:
Wakarusa Electronics was started in 1976 and specialized in Citizen band radio sales and service. By the early 80's Wakarusa Electronics was also doing some small scale repair on televisions and stereo systems, and featured Pioneer audio systems for cars and trucks. As the novelty of Citizen band radios wore off, the company began doing more audio/video sales and service. In 1983, Earlynn Electronics (an industrial electronics firm, specializing in custom board work) bought Wakarusa Electronics and both businesses shared working space in the same building. The new ownership began a bigger push toward sales and service of audio/video equipment. Wakarusa Electronics had both a sales department and a service department, audio/video equipment was sold and repaired in the same building, and installations were a common selling point for all car stereo purchases. By 1984 the sales department (suffering under the new chain stores on Grape Road) was shut down, at this time Earlynn Electronics and Wakarusa Electronics split apart and became two independent entities again. Both businesses moved to different locations and went back to doing their separate businesses. Wakarusa Electronics had now committed itself solely to consumer repair of audio/video products. Earlynn Electronics continued custom board work along with emergency vehicle harness work until 1998 when competition forced the company out of business. Fragments of the old Earlynn Electronics company are now known as C & S Electronics, which is carrying on where Earlynn Electronics left off. In the early nineties, video recorders had become the most repaired item on the market, this trend continued untill cheaper design and C.D./DVD players began to make this product very disposable. Television and stereo repair still continue to be a present factor, however the price on these items has also dropped. By the late nineties, Wakarusa Electronics had began doing contract work for school systems. This would increase the volume and work load for the small company. As the new Millennium approached, an engineering department was added to help aid our small, but growing, industrial customers with their design problems. Today we are still committed to A/V service, and the engineering division continues to grow. As consumer electronics continues to change and grow, we see new technology such as Flat screen televisions, Plasma televisions, DVD's, High definition televisions, and much much more.

Wakarusa Electronics supports our community's largest event by both time and money. Todd Scheets donates many hours in preparation for the event. The Maple Syrup Festival requires a lot of volunteers and a lot of time to make it successful. Without the countless donations (financial and labor) we would not be able to provide the kind of festival that everyone enjoys today.
